The Trip Was Great, Welcome Home!
Truth be told, I’ve been home for about a week. Firstly it took a little doing to get back into the routine. Then to reorganize the kitchen to how I like it. That’s not a complaint, it’s just different folks work differently, and don’t know where things belong. Then I had to sort through the fridge and completely reorganize the freezer, because I had that big party just before I left. And anyone who has done that knows that the leftovers end up in all sorts of places.
This first post is not going to be loaded with images. God knows there’s plenty of time for that. No, this post is going to show the one image out of nearly 100 that I liked from this shoot. What is this terrible photo ratio you might ask? I intentionally didn’t mention it in the title so as to not give it away. It was the “Blood Moon” that took place in the wee hours of March 14th.
I’ve seen several lunar eclipses in my life; some partial, others full. It just never fails to amaze me for several reasons. Perhaps it’s my worldview that plays into this fascination. Or, even my natural curiosity.
The first feeling might be easy to explain like this. If a grain of sand had consciousness and I stood over it, how would it perceive me? That’s me on our planet earth. I still look at night sky and wonder about all the other star that have their own planets and ecosystems, and environments only to think of my place here. It’s like trying to contemplate and understand infinity.
The second thing that astounds me everytime is how ancient man could have wondered about what was happening. Was it a supernatural event? Were there other forces manipulating things that they were seeing? Now we know that the moon is in the shadow of the earth. But if you had no understanding of what was happening, it is easy to see how this red moon got its name.
