Let the trip Begin

The day is arriving.  I have a pretty big group coming this weekend.  Then next Saturday I have a party of about 140 people.  Sunday brings my vacation, road trip and creative residency.  I’m going to the northeast corner of Tennessee, to visit a friend who lives in Piney Flats Tn.  And another coming up from Knoxville to visit as well.  They’re both photographers and there are a lot of places to hike and shoot.

But that’s not the residency.  I have a  van that I converted to a camper that I use for these trips.  I’m planning to drive down and stop at a minimum of two places along the way.  I’m going to run through Baltimore. I’ll shoot some of the old neighborhoods, the Inner Harbor, the aquarium and see what else I can find.

On the way home I’m going to stop at Trap Pond.  Trap Pond is one of the northernmost cypress swamps on the east coast. My sister is going to come one day.  But I’m going to stay for at least two days and see what else might be in the area.

Now for the assignment.  I’m going to bring watercolor paints and paper with me to study mixing the colors that match the landscape.s and scenes that I photograph.  I will take time at each of these locations to sit and mix colors that match sections of the landscape.  Then when I come home the plan is to utilize these colors into the work that I will create using these pictures.

I bought several new tools and paints to experiment with.  Tools for creating surfaces, textures, and to add creative touches to incorporate with my photography. The photo gallery shows the tools and things that I’m going to experiment with.
